I have been writing for many years, for both children and adults. I write lots of different kinds of books, but the one thing they all have in common is a sense of fun. Even if I set out to write a serious story, something exciting, odd, or just plain silly tends to happens.

I also love science and the natural world. The photo of the tui at the top of the page was taken at one of my very favourite places, Tiritiri Matangi Island. This special island is home to some of New Zealand's most endangered birds and is a wonderful place to visit.

If you check out my books, the Chitten Adventures, you'll see how these interests have combined into a series of funny, fantastical tales about a girl, a messy room, and some unusual creatures with rather odd eating habits.
